Tell us about your survivor journey.
I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductile Carcinoma Breast Cancer days after I had my sweet girl.. I am fighting the biggest battle to be there for my daughter.
What has been the biggest source of support through your journey?
My sweet daughter who was born 4 days before my diagnosis, my partner and warrior husband Patrick and all the rest of our friends and family that have been there for us. I also cannot forget my guardian angel father who taught me how to fight with grace and love and all of the pediatric oncology patients I worked with who showed me how to see the joy in even the darkest times
What are some lessons you have learned throughout your survivor journey?
To take each day for what it is, to find joy in the hard stuff, how big of a base you have, that it is okay to let others help, that it is okay not to be okay sometimes, that mental health needs to be attacked head one and not hidden, that hair does grow back and you look better bald than you would think, that unfortunately you are not alone, and that sometimes you are the person who hits multiple rare boxes but not when it matters the most!!
Do you have any advice for a newly diagnosed survivor? What would that advice be and why?
Be open about your journey to people you trust you cannot fight this alone and I promise you will have more support than you know. Treat your whole body including your mind. There are programs to help you so don’t default to “I make too much money”. Make sure you have faith in your doctors so find the right fit for you. I may not know exactly what you are going through but I will be here for you if you need me! Wether that is to vent, cry, rejoice, or just be… Together we Fight and I will be there if you need!
